Storm Damages July 26th Afternoon Update

The Municipality of Tweed emergency control group continues to meet to coordinate response to the tornado that touched down.

The reception centre will be open tomorrow at the Tweed Arena at 297 St. Joseph Street from 8:30 am and 8:00 pm. Services available at the reception centre for residents affected by the tornado include:

- Bottled water

- Access to showers

- Information on how to access additional services and supports

There is now a recently installed outdoor tap at the arena that affected residents can use to fill larger jugs of water. This tap will be accessible between 8:30 am and 8:00 pm

We are still asking affected residents to register at the reception centre so municipal staff have a better picture of the affected area. You can also call the municipality to register, at 613-478-2535 or the reception centre at 613-920-5817.

For those that have been affected that require assistance/have questions about insurance, they can contact their insurance representative or IBC's (Insurance Bureau of Canada) Consumer Information Centre at 1-844-2ask-IBC or via email ConsumerCentre@ibc.ca

Hydro One and public works crews and still out working in the area. Everyone is asked to please avoid the affected areas, so as not to interfere with the restoration efforts. Information about power restoration can be found on the Hydro One Storm Centre App at hydroone.com
