On Thursday, March 28, Doug McRae, expert birder, will demonstrate how to attract and identify birds near home, and how to enhance backyard habitat to make a safe place for birds and other wildlife. This is the final event in the Hastings Stewardship Council, 2019 Winter Speaker Series.
Discover how to arrange plantings to best see the wildlife and how to create effective habitat such as brush piles to help provide food and cover for birds and animals. Learn about feeders, bird houses, bird baths and plantings. Doug will bring bird specimens from the Royal Ontario Museum for examination. Children will love this activity.
Doug is a skilled birder based in the Presqu'ile area. He is a bird bander, and he spent 20 years guiding birding tours world-wide, and ten years on a shorebird research study.
