3rd Annual Tweed 'Walk for Alzheimer's' Event

Date:October 20, 2021
Time:12:30pm - 3:00pm
Location:Tweed Fairgrounds - Covered Pavilion
The Kiwanis Club of Tweed and community partners will be hosting the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s Event once again this October, in support of the Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward. This is the third Walk For Alzheimer’s held in Tweed. This Walk is now also the Signature Project of the Kiwanis Club of Tweed. The Walk will start at the covered picnic area at the Tweed Fairgrounds on Sunday October 20th, 2019. Registration opens at 12:30 pm, and the Walk is from 1 – 3 pm. This year, the Society and Kiwanis Club of Tweed are looking for more teams to join in the activities. Together, over $16,000 was raised in 2018, with all funds staying local. There will be prizes for top fundraising team, and most spirited team, as well as a prize for top fundraiser overall. Walking as a team is a great way for a family, organization/workplace, or friend group to show their support or walk in memory or in honour of someone who has been affected by Alzheimer’s disease or some form of dementia. If you would like to start fundraising, please visit www.walkforalzheimers.ca, and pick Tweed from the Ontario drop down list, or print a pledge form. You can also donate directly, or support a walker you know. Pledge forms can be picked up at The Municipality of Tweed office, Bush Furniture, and the Tweed News. They can also be picked up at the Alzheimer Society Office in Belleville at 470 Dundas Street East. The Alzheimer Society of Hastings-Prince Edward is a local not-for-profit agency, which provides free education and support services to families, friends, caregivers and persons with dementia or memory loss. The Kiwanis Club of Tweed is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising and community service. Kiwanis is a global not-for-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
