Tim Nast - Canadian Pianist & Composer at the MAC

Tim Nast - Canadian Pianist & Composer at the MAC

Date:November 3, 2021
Time:2:00pm - 4:00pm
Location:Marble Arts Centre
Tim Nast is a Canadian pianist and composer with a rare talent for melody and improvisation. He grew up on Vancouver Island, just outside Victoria, BC. This tranquil setting played a key role in defining his musical style, which he refers to as freestyle piano - a mix of classical, jazz, folk and improv - with the bending of rules as required. Frequently compared to Keith Jarrett and George Winston, Tim Nast’s music offers rich melodic landscapes which allow listeners to escape their lives and enter the world he creates – a world of harmony and rhythm. During his 20s, Tim Nast recorded 6 albums and performed across Canada and Germany, sometimes to standing room only. When he became a father, he stepped back from his music career and entered the corporate world. Fast forward to the present and Tim Nast is back! He’s retired from the corporate career and has returned to his musical passion of composition and performance. He is better for the road he has traveled and well-aware that the passage of time has given his music a soulful depth that can only be acquired through living. Currently residing in Ottawa, Canada, Tim Nast looks forward to sharing his music with people around the world, and connecting with them in an authentic way. "To create music, to set flight with wings that are notes and chords, this demands that we step beyond who we are, that we leave behind our arms and our legs, our limitations and perspectives, so we may leap up and out beyond our skin and embrace what we wish for and long for, like birds in the sky, like the moon up above where there is no gravity or weight, just the beating of our wings that rise higher with every note." - Tim Nast $15 tix available at the Tweed News, Bush Furniture, at the door or on-line at https://www.timnast.com/tour
