The Municipality of Tweed wishes to release the following information to the community:

Message from Mayor Jo-Anne Albert

Yesterday, December 21, 2020 at 1:43 pm, I declared a State of Emergency for the Municipality of Tweed due to the Province-wide lockdown which starts at 12:01 am December 26, 2020 and is to last for at least 28 days in our region.  We encourage all residents to stay home, limit travel and only go out for essential reasons (work, school, groceries, exercise, caring for vulnerable people and necessary medical appointments).

Municipal Service Adjustments

Administrative Office will be closed to the public until the province wide lockdown has been lifted.  There will be 2 staff available to answer the phone during regular business hours.  During the closure, any payments or correspondence may be done by using the drop box at the front door, by mail, email or via electronic payment through your financial institution.

Public Works Department staff duties will be limited to winter maintenance activities only.  Please call the Administrative Office 613-478-2535 if there are any emergency matters. Note: Any emergency matters requiring police, fire or medical assistance, call 911.

Waste Disposal Site will remain open, except for the scheduled December 26, 2020 closure.  Masks must be worn by all public and staff.  There will be a maximum of 2 vehicles at the recycling depot at a time, and physical distancing must be maintained in all areas.

Tweed Memorial Arena will be closed until further notice.

Tweed Fire Department will only be responding to 911 calls.

For more information, our Pandemic Response Plan can be found on our website at https://tweed.ca/photos/custom/Comprehensive%20Pandemic%20Plan.pdf.  We will be operating in the grey zone during the lockdown.
