Tweed, ON – The Municipality of Tweed continues to monitor the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic as issued by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Municipality of Tweed wishes to release the following information to the community:

Municipality of Tweed Meetings

All meetings during the time period Friday, March 13th to Sunday, April 5th will be postponed until further notice due to the increasing concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates when we are able to do so.

The scheduled Regular Council Meeting for Tuesday, March 24th will move forward as scheduled and the Agenda will be amended to address urgent municipal business only.  The scheduled Public Budget Presentation for Tuesday, March 24th will be postponed until further notice.

During this time of heightened concern, at the Municipality of Tweed we:

  • Are increasing the frequency of disinfecting in all of our common spaces;
  • Are attempting to increase access to hand sanitizers; and
  • Will continue to communicate with the community as new information becomes available or as new requirements become necessary.

Municipality of Tweed Buildings and Facilities

All non-essential gatherings at Municipality of Tweed facilities will be postponed until further notice due to the increasing concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Tweed Arena, Tweed Public Library, and Community Halls will be closed to the public until Sunday, April 5th.

Municipality of Tweed Staff

The Municipal Office will remain open for normal business hours and we have encouraged staff to stay calm and continue with infection control practices such as frequent hand washing, coughing into sleeve, and remaining at home if feeling unwell.

We are taking additional precautions as it will only take ONE case of COVID-19 to shut down our building and remove municipal services from the area.  We apologize for any inconvenience this protocol may cause.

Cleaning supplies are available for staff for cleaning their personal workspace.

More updates for staff will be available as the situation unfolds.

Conclusion

The Municipality of Tweed has increased signage in public areas such as entrance ways, washrooms, staff rooms and hallways encouraging everyone to take all necessary precautions.

We will continue to provide updates to assist with keeping everyone informed.

Jo-Anne Albert, Mayor of Municipality of Tweed
