2026 Municipal Election

The Municipality of Tweed will be using Telephone/Internet Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election. Voting Day is Monday, October 26, 2026, however, there will be no polls in the traditional sense on Voting Day.

The Voting Period for the Municipality of Tweed will run from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026 and voters will be able to vote either by telephone or on the internet using the PIN they receive in their Voter Information Letter which will be mailed out to all voters in advance of the Voting Period.  For enhanced security you will also need your date of birth in order to log in to vote.

A Voter Help Center will be available at the Municipal Office to assist voters.  If you require assistance you will need to bring your Voter Information Letter with you to the Voter Help Center.  

If you do not receive a Voter Information Letter you can still vote by getting your name added to the Voters' List.  It will be necessary to complete the appropriate form and bring identification with you.

Running for Municipal Office-Everything You Need to Know as a Diverse Candidate

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) is offering a series of workshops for people thinking about running for municipal office in the October 2026 elections.


Focused specifically on diverse candidates, this 90-minute workshop provides useful insights and strategies to support you in getting your name on the ballot.


Facilitated by former municipal Councillors Steve Anderson and Jasvinder Sandhu, you will be taken through:

  • What to expect running as a diverse candidate 
  • Critical strategies for successfully campaigning for municipal office
  • Understand what it takes to become a candidate
  • Identifying your target audience,
  • Developing effective messaging and branding, 
  • Utilizing community engagement practices to enhance visibility and support.
