The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal Election is now open, May 1st 2026.
Candidate Eligibility:
A Canadian citizen
At least 18 years old
Resident of The Municipality of Tweed
A non-resident that owns/rents, or whose spouse owns/rents, property in the Municipality
For school board trustee(s), a resident in the area of jurisdiction of the school board

Bridge Construction in Queensborough is Complete!
The Municipality of Tweed is excited to announce that construction is now complete on the bridge in Queensborough - one of three bridge replacements as part of it's Local Bridge Replacements project.
The project has been made possible by the Government of Canada, the Province of Ontario, and the Municipality of Tweed.

Register To Vote
The Municipality of Tweed will be using Telephone/Internet Voting for the 2026 Municipal Election. Voting Day is Monday, October 26, 2026, however, there will be no polls in the traditional sense on Voting Day.
The Voting Period for the Municipality of Tweed will run from 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2026 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026 and voters will be able to vote either

As the October 2026 municipal and school board elections approach, residents are being reminded to review and update their school support designation to ensure they are eligible to vote for the appropriate school board trustee representatives.
In Ontario, every residential property is linked to a school board support designation, regardless of whether the household currently has children
